We are heading to the Fowey Festival 2023!

Road Trip (sort of) to Fowey!

A few members of our Daphne du Maurier Society of North America are planning to attend next year’s Fowey Festival.  This site was created as an information source for the 2023 festival. As we learn more information – When do tickets go on sale? When can one submit a presentation?  Which Society members plan to attend? - the site will be updated.

In the meantime, dust off those duffels, tally up those frequent flyer miles, and plan to meet us for lunch in the charming south Cornwall town of Fowey, England.

Member Luncheon

Founded in 1997, the Fowey Festival was originally called the Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature. The village of Fowey has been home to not only du Maurier, but authors Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch and Kenneth Grahame, the author of Wind in The Willows. The festival has grown into one of the most respected literary festivals in Europe. On the festival calendar one can always find an internationally famous author, musical performances of the highest caliber, skilled and gifted artisans, nature walks, and guided tours of the charming town.

As Alfred Hitchcock once said on The Alfred Hitchcock Hour, “Bored you will not be!”

Fowey

Fowey is a port town and civil parish at the mouth of the River Fowey in south Cornwall, England, United Kingdom. The town has been in existence since well before the Norman invasion, with the local church first established sometime in the 7th century; the estuary of the river Fowey forms a natural harbor which enabled the town to become an important trading center. Our dear Daphne du Maurier used to make the ten-minute drive from Menabilly, her home, to the Fowey corner shop and to patronize the local bookstore.
